Pope Joke

A man is preparing to board a train when he hears that the Pope is also going to be using that mode of transportation because he apparently wanted to try something different.

"This is exciting," the man thinks. "I've always been a big fan of the Pope. Perhaps I'll be able to see him in person."

Imagine his surprise when the Pope sits down in the seat next to him. But the gentleman was too shy to speak to the Pontiff.

Shortly after taking his seat, the Pope began a crossword puzzle.

"This is fantastic," the man thinks. "I'm really good at crosswords. Perhaps, if the Pope gets stuck, he'll ask me for assistance."

Almost immediately, the Pope turns to the gentleman and says, "Excuse me, but do you know a four letter word referring to a woman that ends in 'u-n-t'?"

Only one word leaps to mind. The man feels uncomfortable. "My goodness," he thinks, "I can't tell the Pope that. There must be another word." He thinks for a while, then it hits him and he says, "I think the word you're looking for is 'aunt'."

"Of course," replies the Pope. "Do you have an eraser?"

Yes, I know. I'm going to hell.

BuzzFeed: Men Explain The Vagina

Men Explain The Vagina

Seriously? How do we guys manage to have sex? I am sure any woman is going to watch this video and roll her eyes. We men are such doofuses. We know jack shit about women, sex, and life in general and yet we carry on like the cock of the walk totally ignorant of our own short-comings. We are ignorant of our ignorance. Geesh, it's surprising the human race hasn't died off. Ha, ha. The Conservatives are right: abstinence-only sex education works. We can't get it in the right hole.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to run off and hide my head in shame. Ha, ha. (Yes, yes, not every guy is like this - thank God - but those who are give the rest of us a good laugh. Boy, do we collectively need sex education or what?)

Full Frontal Freedom: Proud, Free, American Vaginas

A Vagina Monologue: Vagina, Interrupted
Full Frontal Freedom is a coalition of independent artists and media folks using our creativity to promote civic engagement and discussion of current issues.

This was published in August 2012 before the election. Nevertheless, the ideas presented are as important today as they were then. The Conservative far right wants to deny women the right to their own body. As I tweeted during the campaign, "Ladies, vote Republican and kiss your vagina good-bye." Every woman should have the right to choose: sex, birth control, and abortion. It is her body; it is her decision. No political party, no government, and no man should prevent a woman from being a citizen with full equality.

When the Court decided to allow corporate spending in political races, it may not have envisioned that Sheldon Adelson would give $71 million to a candidate’s cause. Thankfully, all the money in the world cannot buy votes. A Candy Bar Deals With Gender Bias

"Hey! Darling! You have yourself a lovely day."

"Hoy! That colour really works on you. Have a productive day."

"You want to hear a filthy word? Gender bias."

"I'd like to show you the respect you deserve."

"A woman's place is where she chooses."

"I appreciate your appearance as just one aspect of who you are."

"You know what I'd like to see? A society where the objectification of women makes life a gender neutral interaction free from assumptions and expectations."

"What do we want? Equality! What don't we want? Misogyny!"

Aussie Builders surprise public with loud empowering statements
Snickers paired up with Aussie builders to call out empowering statements to unsuspecting members of the public.

Good? Bad? Whatever the case, Snickers has achieved something: everybody is talking about this!

Advertising: Hilarious new Snickers ad sees builders empowering female passers-by by Maisie Skidmore
The ad industry is never more exciting than when a big ol’ company takes everybody by surprise and hits the nail absolutely on the head, as is the case with this new ad by Snickers Australia. The advert is built around their campaign heading “you’re not yourself when you’re hungry,” and plays on the stereotype of builders objectifying women. Accordingly, it focuses on a group of Aussie builders on a construction site surprising female passers by with empowering statements, from “I appreciate your appearance is just one aspect of who you are!” to “Y’know what I’d like to see? A society in which the objectification of women makes way for gender neutral interactions free from assumptions and expectations!”

Admittedly, the inference is that as soon as the builders curb their hunger they’ll get right back to habitual misogyny, but the playful stereotype is happy encouragement of feminism, and a very funny one at that. Worth a watch if only for the moment when one woman’s expression turns from angry disdain to surprised appreciation, and for the joyful calls of “YOU GO GIRL!”

Wikipedia: Sexism
Sexism or gender discrimination is prejudice or discrimination based on a person's sex or gender. Sexist attitudes may stem from traditional stereotypes of gender roles, and may include the belief that a person of one sex is intrinsically superior to a person of the other.

Wikipedia: Gender-bias in medical diagnosis
Gender-biased diagnosing is a controversial sociological observation which asserts that medical and psychological diagnosis may be influenced by the gender of the patient. Several studies have found evidence of differential diagnosis for patients with similar ailments but of different sexes.

23 Truly Terrible Sex Tips by Luke Lewis
3. Use your teeth
"Very softly bite the skin of his scrotum." -Karen, 26
Karen at the age of 40 after having actually been with a few guys, "Do not use teeth." Lorena Bobbitt, indeed.

6. Attempt an intimate Chinese burn.
Make two fists around my shaft and twist them in opposite directions as fast as you can." -Jamie, 30
Dear Jamie, WTF, are you a masochist? Nobody is going to pull that s**t on my equipment twice. This is a delicate instrument of love, not a doughy pretzel stick. Geesh!

23. "Volleying a tennis ball."
"Hold his penis in one hand and lightly slap it with the other... you can tap it back and forth like you're voilleying a tennis ball and light pinch the skin on his shaft and testicles. Many women make the mistake of being too gentle."
Please don't do this. No, really. Don't do this.

Break Your Man's Penis With Cosmo's Ridiculous Olympic Sex Tips by Erin Gloria Ryan
In honor of the upcoming Winter Games, this month's issue of Cosmopolitan tailored its monthly offering of sex tips around an Olympics theme. And, like the Olympics, only the world's most elite athletes should try them. Seriously. They're cock-snappingly harrowing.

I'm not going to mince words here: while far-fetched, this month's SEX OLYMPICS section in Cosmo is fucking awesome. It seems that, like Skynet, Cosmo has gradually become self-aware, and rather than shying away from its much-ridiculed penchant for silly sex tips, it's doubled — nay, tripled down and decided to own them, and that takes scrunchie-framed balls. I mean, positions called The Bawdy Bobsled? The Long Pole? Siberian Husky Style? And don't even get me started on the little sex diagrams that are wearing helmets and goggles and scarves and figure skating uniforms while engaged in coitus.

The Sex-Goddess Ski Jump
1. Take a flying leap.
2. Land on his penis.
3. Win a gold medal!
Have him push you up against a wall and grab you around the butt. Now leap up into his arms like you're soaring off a Sochi bluff, lock your legs around his waist, hold on to his shoulders for leverage, and get busy. Little-known Newton law of motion: up-against-a-wall sex is never not hot.

Seriously, who writes this stuff? Have they done any empirical studies by actually attempting to do what they suggest? Have they ever had sex? To the uninformed and inexperienced, this leads to a distorted impression of what is desirable and attainable. It is another contribution to the cacophony of misinformation disguised as supposed facts floating around our society. It's no wonder we are collectively a confused bunch of people.

On the other hand, if you are knowledgeable and experienced, articles like this are a hoot. "2. Land on his penis." Really? Your aim is that good? Talk about a hole in one!

Foster the People: Houdini

Rise above, gonna start the war!
What you want, what you need, what'd you come here for?
Well, an eye for an eye and an 'F' for fight
They're taking me down as the prisoners riot

Got shackles on, my words are tied
Fear can make you compromise
With the lights turned up, it's hard to hide
Sometimes I wanna disappear

When I feel kinda bad and don't want to stress
I just pass it off on ability
Well, you got what you want, and what you never knew
Perfect gift from me to you

Got shackles on, my words are tied
Fear can make you compromise
With the lights turned up, it's hard to hide
Sometimes I wanna disappear

(Raise up to your ability)
You never knew what I could find
What would come when we realize
I don't want to compromise

(Raise up to your ability)
Yeah I'm scared but I disappear
Running around before it corners you
I can't go because my life's a wreck

(Raise up to your ability)
I know that you want me
'Cause it's simple to see of my ability

(Raise up to your ability)
Yeah you're undecided
Yeah so I can see that
Yeah I don't wanna runaway

You gotta focus on your ability
Focus on your ability
Gotta focus on your ability
Focus on your ability

Then they can't get what they want to steal
Can't get what they want to steal
Then they can't get what they want to steal
Can't get what they want to steal

Seeing New York City Through the Eyes of Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck

Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg are the creators of the Cinemagraph, an amalgamation of photography, video, and the animated GIF. Below, they present their native New York through the classic Armani lenses in a series of "living moments" or moving snapshots. They are more than photographs but not quite full-blown videos. They are a unique evolution of the traditional still.

Cinemagraph: The Work of Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck

Cinemagraphs are still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs. Cinemagraphs, which are usually published in an animated GIF format, can give the illusion that the viewer is watching a video. (If you look carefully at the image to the left, the reeds in the foreground are moving.)

They are commonly produced by taking a series of photographs or a video recording, and, using image editing software, compositing the photographs or the video frames into a seamless loop of sequential frames. This is done such that motion in part of the subject between exposures (for example, a person's dangling leg) is perceived as a repeating or continued motion, in contrast with the stillness of the rest of the image.

The term "cinemagraph" was coined by U.S. photographers Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck, who used the technique to animate their fashion and news photographs beginning in early 2011. -Wikipedia: Cinemagraph

A Cinemagraph is an image that contains within itself a living moment that allows a glimpse of time to be experienced and preserved endlessly.

Visual Graphics Artist Kevin Burg began experimenting with the .gif format in this style in 2009 but it wasn't until he partnered with photographer Jamie Beck to cover NYFW that Cinemagraphs were born. Marrying original content photography with the desire to communicate more to the viewer birthed the cinemagraph process. Starting in-camera, the artists take a traditional photograph and combine a living moment into the image through the isolated animation of multiple frames. To quote supermodel Coco Rocha "it's more than a photo but not quite a video".
