Leonard Cohen: Dance With Me to the End of Love

Published on Mar 10, 2010 by LeonardCohenVEVO
YouTube: Leonard Cohen - Dance Me to the End of Love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Patrick Francis Frenking: Invention no. 8 by J.S. Bach

Published on Nov 23, 2010 by marimbist1
YouTube: Patrick Francis Frenking - Invention no. 8 J.S. Bach
Patrick Frenking performs J.S. Bach's Invention no.8 in F major. Performed at the Provincial House Chapel at the University of Missouri St. Louis.

Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to find anything about Patrick Francis Frenking, other than he is a marimbist. The difference between instruments of this class is as follows.

The Xylophone has a series of wooden bars, tuned to the relevant notes.

The marimba has similar wooden bars with resonators (originally gourds, now tubes) underneath.

The Vibraphone is a variant of the marimba, often with metal bars, but with a spinning butterfly at the top of the resonator giving a tremolo effect.

The Glockenspiel has metal bars, again tuned to the relevant notes.

Me detengo y me despierto I stop myself and I awake
y te encuentro en lo bello de lo pequeño, and I find you in the beauty of the small things
en lo que pueda parecer repetidoin what may seem repeated
Y me despierto a mí mismaAnd I wake up to myself
que respiro que vivo y me fascinoThat I breathe, that I live and I'm fascinated
porque todo me habla de tiBecause everything tells me of you
Hoy despierto a tu presencia ven Señor te abro la puerta de esta mi pobre casa.Today, I wake up to your presence; come Lord, I open the door of this my poor house to you.
Hoy despierto a tu presencia, ven Señor te abro la puertaToday, I wake up to your presence. Come Lord, I open the door to you.
Gracias por querer ser mi amigo, quédate.Thank for wanting to be my friend. Stay!

Gracias por querer ser mi amigo, estas aquí.Thank you for wanting to be my friend. You are here
Hace falta que despierteIt's necessary that I wake up
que los ojos de mi espíritu con tu luzthat the eyes of my spirit, with your light,
me descubran que estas dentro de mí.may show me that you are in me
Hoy despierto a tu presencia ven Señor te abro la puerta, sé que vives, eres tan real.Today I wake up to your presence. Come Lord, I open the door to you. I know that you live. You are so real

CTV News - Sep 18/2017
The 11 sisters of Siervas are a rock band like 'nun' other [11? 12?]
Eleven nuns take the stage wearing traditional black-and white habits but are anything but old school as they belt out songs to the ringing of electric guitar and a rock 'n' roll beat. Known as "Siervas," the band was born in a Peruvian convent three years ago and now travels far and wide to perform. Of all the extraordinary things about Siervas the most remarkable may be they are not just a novelty. They have a genuine international following.

The nuns, who come from eight countries and range in age from 20s to 40s, insist they aren't rock stars. But they certainly act the part when on stage performing to the electric guitar, steady drumbeat and catchy lyrics, uniformly smiling as silver crosses dangle from their necks.

I occasionally watch the YouTube videos of Casey Neistat (b 1981), a New York film producer and videographer. His vlogs are well done and interesting personal takes on his life.

He ofttimes includes background music from an online service called Soundcloud. I discovered a number of original content creators offering their music for free or for a minimal fee. As an addition to a YouTube video, a vlog, it does add to the professionalism of the film.
