Plot Device

Red Giant Films: Plot Device

THE PLOT: A young filmmaker obtains a mysterious device that unleashes the full force of cinema on his front lawn.

Director: Seth Worley
Executive Producer: Aharon Rabinowitz

Making of Plot Device
At Red Giant, we understand the challenges of creating a high quality film at an affordable price. Plot Device is a nine minute short film directed by Seth Worley, and executive produced by Red Giant’s own Aharon Rabinowitz. Aharon and Seth co-wrote the film, working together in close collaboration throughout the project.

Plot Device was created to demonstrate firsthand the high caliber work that can be created when using Magic Bullet Suite 11. The movie was created by Seth with a budget of $10,000, a lot of ingenuity in stretching those dollars, and price-conscious VFX software from Red Giant. (see below for how to film of Plot Device)

FYI: The other two short films offered here, "Order Up: and "Form 17" are worth a look.

Final Word
What? They made this film for ten grand? Holy cow. I look at the budgets of a few of the films I have seen this year: Elysium: $98 million; Iron Man 3: $200 million; Man of Steel: $225 million; Pacific Rim: $190 million. Ten grand? Does that even pay for the Starbucks of the crew? Ha, ha. This is pretty impressive. Your regular Dick and/or Jane could conceivably make a film of a professional quality. In fact, I have discovered all sorts of "short films" on YouTube which are anything but amateurish. Gee, it's tempting to think I might still be able to go after my Oscar.

my blog: I'm 60. Now what?
Where did the time go? What the heck have I been doing all this time? What have I accomplished? I look up on my top shelf where years ago I cleared a space for my Oscar and my Nobel Prize and I note that the space is still empty and boy have I been remiss in my dusting.
